How Hilola Flower Works

Short answer: Hilola Flower is an Istanbul premium bouquet atelier that selects cultivars from among the world's finest flower series and brings them together through distinctive form and wrapping. Since April 2025, every online order has been made in Sultangazi, photographed before dispatch and delivered by our own team across 35 districts of İstanbul.

Calling Hilola Flower simply a website that sends flowers in Istanbul misses the point. We do not buy a flower by its broad type and place it in a standard package. We select the cultivar whose tone, opening behaviour, stem structure and calibre serve the design, then build the flowers, colour movement, silhouette and wrapping as one composition.

Our aim is to bring a different, elegant language to bouquet wrapping in Turkey. That language is not just a choice of paper: it includes folds that extend the outer silhouette without hiding the flowers, tones that support the palette, a controlled grip and proportions built for the individual composition. Wrapping is not packaging placed over a Hilola bouquet; it is the visible final layer of its design.

The idea only holds when the rest of the order follows the same standard. Orders are made at our online-focused atelier in Sultangazi. If a required flower cannot be sourced, it is not quietly replaced; the design is closed to ordering. The finished bouquet is photographed and sent to the purchaser on WhatsApp before every delivery, then carried within Istanbul by our own team rather than passed to another florist.

What Makes Hilola Flower Different?

The difference is not one flower, an oversized bouquet or an expensive material. The Hilola standard brings five decisions into the same order: selecting the right flower series, looking for consistency within the lot, arranging the flowers as a readable composition rather than a crowded mass, constructing wrapping for that form, and making the finished product visible before it leaves the atelier.

That is why we do not use “premium” as another word for price. Premium value begins with knowing that Freedom is not interchangeable with every red rose, Playa Blanca with every white rose, or Royal Blush with every spray rose. Imported material alone does not create the Hilola standard if the character of the cultivar is lost in the design.

Our online-focused model supports the same goal. The atelier is organised for flower selection, made-to-order preparation, photographic control and delivery coordination—not for bouquets waiting on a retail shelf. Our attention remains on the bouquet itself and on following one order from preparation to handover.

How does the flower reach the atelier?

All of our flowers come through the Netherlands, the hub of the world's cut flower trade. But the Dutch market does not only distribute what it grows: large volumes also arrive there from Kenya and Ecuador. Every week we buy from both — Dutch-grown stock and Kenyan and Ecuadorian varieties.

Stock is renewed every Monday evening and used through that week. That is not incidental. If a design's flowers are not with us that week, the day shows as closed in the calendar on the product page — so every day you can see there is a day that bouquet can genuinely be made.

How Do We Select from the World's Finest Flower Series?

Hilola Flower places finding and bringing in the world's finest flower series at the centre of its sourcing approach. “Finest” is not an unsupported decorative claim here: stem strength, head calibre, opening behaviour, true colour, transport performance and consistency within the same lot are considered together. A series is not selected merely because it is imported or widely known.

We choose at cultivar level, not by type. We do not buy “a red rose”; we decide whether the design calls for the character of Freedom or another series. In white roses we consider Playa Blanca's cream-to-white field; among pink Ecuadorian roses, Shimer, Rhoslyn and Hermosa offer distinct tones and opening behaviour; among spray roses, Silva Pink, Royal Blush, Reflex, Leila, Rosenella, Sophie and Lianne perform different compositional roles. When we cannot find a flower at the right grade for a design, we do not make that bouquet.

How does Hilola build the design of a bouquet?

We do not treat a bouquet as a count of flowers placed together. We first decide which flower leads the composition, which heads create volume or rhythm, and where one colour should move into the next. Stem heights are not forced onto a single line: some flowers come forward, others build the transition, and the outer silhouette follows that hierarchy.

Wrapping is not a standard package added after the floristry is finished. Its colour should support rather than mute the flowers; the direction of each fold should continue the bouquet's form; and the grip should remain controlled while the arrangement is carried. An open, horizontal composition and a tall, upright bouquet do not receive the same fold structure. Nor do we use extra paper as a substitute for scale: unnecessary volume can hide the proportions that make the flowers themselves legible.

For Hilola, an elegant bouquet is therefore not one fixed palette or wrapping style. It comes from selecting the cultivar in the right tone, allowing the flower heads room to read, using negative space deliberately, balancing the silhouette and letting the wrapping complete rather than interrupt that form. How is a bouquet made at the atelier?

Our current catalogue is made up entirely of hand-tied bouquets. They are prepared in their own wrapping, with their water taken.

We make the bouquet to the design you see on the product page. If one of the flowers in a design is not with us, we do not quietly put a "similar" flower in its place: we close that bouquet for sale, or mark it for next week.

We do not use the "complete it with an equivalent flower" method that is common in this trade. The reason is simple — the recipient is expecting the bouquet the sender chose, not something like it.

What happens before the bouquet leaves?

On every single order, we photograph the bouquet before it goes out for delivery, send it to the sender on WhatsApp and say that it is on its way.

You do not have to ask for it. You see the bouquet you are sending before the recipient does. The practice makes our design standard visible and leaves an open record between the atelier and the sender.

Who delivers the flowers?

Delivery is done by our own team. We do not hand a bouquet we have made to another florist or to an intermediary we cannot oversee.

We serve 35 districts of İstanbul. Silivri, Şile, Adalar, Çatalca are outside the service area for now. Delivery is limited to İstanbul for now; we do not pass orders to other cities, because we cannot stand behind a bouquet we did not make.

When something might affect the delivery time — traffic, weather, the recipient not being at the address, peak-day volume — we do not wait for you to call us; we call first. Current coverage and the days you can choose appear on the same-day delivery page and on the order screen.

What happens if something goes wrong?

We do not claim to be flawless. Our claim is this: to do our work carefully and to take responsibility when something goes wrong.

If you think there is a problem with the flowers, the design or the delivery and that it is on us, you can reach us directly by phone or WhatsApp. We look at the order and work it through with you. Leaving a customer without an answer and without someone to talk to is one rule we do not bend.

The reason we work in this much detail is that what we deliver is not only a bouquet. More often than not it is part of a birthday, an anniversary, an apology or a thank you.
